“I’m sorry to say, but he can no longer work under me at Westham”- Julen Lopetegui  breaks £63M forgotten Westham star’s heart and tells him to look for a new club by January- It’s the End

The two sides looked to be sharing the points at the London Stadium, with Casemiro cancelling out Crysencio Summerville’s opener, that was until the Hammers were awarded a spot-kick in added time.

Matthijs De Ligt’s challenge on Danny Ings was initially waved away by referee David Coote, but after Michael Oliver suggested a VAR review, Jarrod Bowen scored to secure a 2-1 win.

Writing via The Sun on Sunday (27 October), Halsey said: “I am amazed referee David Coote overturned his decision — a penalty should not have been awarded.

“It was nothing more than a coming together and resulted in a game-changing decision that cost Manchester United. Coote had a great view and he was initially spot on not to award a penalty.”

West Ham lucky to beat Manchester United with late penalty?

Julen Lopetegui will count his lucky stars that VAR wanted to overturn the initial decision. Ings will argue that he was fouled in the penalty area but it was a rather soft decision.

However, with the Hammers’s current form, Lopetegui deserves a bit of luck to turn things around at the London Stadium, and that is exactly what he got.

The Hammers have now leapfrogged the Red Devils in the Premier League table, moving seven points clear of the relegation zone, but Lopetegui’s job is far from safe after just one victory.

With just three wins from their first nine league matches, the new head coach must do much more to convince that he is the answer to West Ham’s problems after David Moyes left during the summer.

They have to build upon this 2-1 result now, and with upcoming fixtures against Nottingham Forest, Everton and Newcastle, Lopetegui’s side will be expected to pick up some points.

In other West Ham news, Tim Sherwood was baffled by the Hammers as he shared a new Julen Lopetegui verdict on Sky Sports.
